New video shows the moment loud gunshots erupt inside a Brooklyn apartment — as two dumbfounded NYPD cops stand there and do nothing.
The 30-second police body camera clip, obtained by The Post Thursday, shows the officers, Waqar Zafar and Sergio Garcia-Castillo, at the door of a second-floor apartment in NYCHA’s Bushwick Houses around 9 p.m. Sunday while responding to a call for help.
“Can we go in and talk to him?” one of the officers asks an uneasy man at the door — just before what sounds like two gunshots.
“What is that?” one of the cops asks, as the man looks into the apartment and shakes his head. “Can we go in?”
“I don’t want to say yeah, I don’t want to say no,” the man responds as he holds the door a quarter of the way open. The video then cuts off.
Sources said, however, that Zafar and Garcia-Castillo walked away from the apartment, shut off their body cameras before rushing back as cops from the 90th Precinct responded to reports of shots fired at the housing complex.
Investigators later found a man inside the apartment had fired off four rounds, sources said. No one was injured in the incident.
Both cops, who are assigned to Police Service Area 3, were placed on modified duty for failing to properly investigate and failing to take police action at the shooting.
