A 6-year-old girl died after being found unconscious early Friday inside a Bronx apartment with bruises and trauma to her wrists and body, cops said.
Jalayah Eason was discovered by her mother cold and not breathing inside a closet of their 12th-floor apartment in the NYCHA’s Forest Houses at E. 165th St. near Tinton Ave. just before 4 a.m. Friday, according to police.
The mother, who called 911, tried to administer CPR but the little girl would not wake up, cops said.
EMS arrived 15 minutes later and rushed the girl to Lincoln Hospital, but she couldn’t be saved, police said.
Bruises and other trauma were discovered on Jalayah’s wrists and torso, according to police.
The girl’s siblings — an 8-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl —were also in the apartment but were unharmed.
It was unclear how little Jalayah died.
The mom was being questioned over the death but no one has been charged as of Friday morning.
The city’s Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
The city’s Administration of Children’s Services has also been alerted to the situation.
