One week after the sports world ceremoniously rejected one of the greatest athletes of all time because of the scandals associated with his on-field play, another controversy-heavy superstar said goodbye to near unanimous applause.
Of course, Barry Bonds is not Tom Brady, even if they went to the same Northern California high school. Bonds posted the best numbers in Major League Baseball history through suspicious means that challenge the substance of his game. Brady’s football scandals tend to be on the periphery — misdemeanors in comparison.
Still, seven days after baseball writers officially said no to Bonds, Brady officially said his farewell and was greeted with hagiographies from just about every sports outlet.
