The latest overall updates: Japan’s official entry for best international feature, “Drive My Car,” enters the top 10 for best picture, along with Ryûsuke Hamaguchi in best director. Bradley Cooper’s seven-minute appearance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Licorice Pizza” sits in the No. 5 spot for supporting actor. At the same time, Marlee Matlin’s turn in Siân Heder’s “CODA” is among the predicted five in supporting actress, arguably the most competitive field of contenders seen in the last decade. The Oscars shortlist was announced in 10 categories, and the first prediction commentary and rankings for animated short, documentary short and live action short has been launched.
