Shooting Victim - Area of 861 Dixwell Avenue

On June 15th at approximately 11:15p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Easton Street on the report of a shooting. Further reports indicated that a victim was lying on the ground.

Upon arrival, officers searched the area, but could not locate the victim. Officers later learned that the victim, identified as Jeffrey Crewe, 37, of West Haven, was driven to the Hospital of Saint Raphael by another individual. Crewe, who was shot in the back, suffered serious injuries.

Officer Craig Appleby and his K-9 partner “Hunter” conducted a track, which led to the area of Goodrich Street.

The Hamden Police Department Major Crime Unit has assumed the investigation.
