The Soup Girl and Erica OBrien Cake Design held a combined Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, April 25, at their new location of 1242 Whitney Avenue, Hamden.
Jessica Hazan is the Soup Girl, and it’s as if she were born to make soup. One of her first words was soup (she called it “oup”!). Jessica was sous chef in her mother’s kitchen by age eight and creating her own recipes by age 10. Originally from New York, now living in and loving Hamden, The Soup Girl continues to indulge her culinary curiosity. For more information, visit www.thesoupgirl.com.
Erica OBrien combines her lifelong love of baking with her design savvy in every cake she creates. Originally from Queens, N.Y., Erica relocated to Hamden in 2011. She and her talented staff now create one-of-a-kind wedding cake designs that taste as decadent as they look for clients from New York to Massachusetts, and, of course, Connecticut. On Thursday, April 26, Peachy Keen, Hamden’s locally-owned, self-serve frozen yogurt shop, held their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at 3450 Whitney Avenue. George and Kari McMahon officially opened Peachy Keen in January 2012. They serve frozen yogurt in a variety of flavors that rival ice cream along with tons of toppings from which to choose.
