Three Add Energy to Hamden-North Haven LWV

Three Energetic Members Joined the Hamden-North Haven League of Women Voters and Hit the Ground Running
Andrea Sangrey Aldrich, until recently the town/urban planner for the Town of Darien and the City of Bridgeport and now Program Manager of Grant Research Affairs of the Yale Medical School Cancer Center, is the new Voter Services Chair for the Hamden-North Haven LWV. Her team will include, in Hamden, former state representative Nancy Beals and Shahid Abdul-Karim, a member of the Hamden Town Committee, and in North Haven Miriam Brody and another member, to be determined. In June, Aldrich was elected Development Director of the League of Women Voters of Connecticut. She has a Masters in Urban Planning from Southern Connecticut State University.
In’Naam Abdul-Karim was elected to the Board of the Hamden-North Haven LWV as Secretary. Formerly a theatrical stage coordinator, stage designer, and a performer in Texas, Abdul-Karim is the president of S.A.K. Consultants LLC, a Connecticut-based firm specializing in event planning, booking management, marketing, and promotions. She is also national sales coordinator for Aurora Agra, a company that assists with revitalizing the soil for organic farming. In 2011, she was elected to the Hamden Town Committee. Abdul-Karim is pursuing her B.A. in Business Accounting at Southern Connecticut State University. She is married to D. Shahid Abdul-Karim.
Donavan Shahid Abdul-Karim is the founder and CEO of S.A.K. Consultants LLC (see above). Last year, he was named to the Hamden Fire Commission and in 2012 began serving on the Hamden Town Committee. In June, he joined the New Haven Register as a reporter focusing on stories in the community that merit a deeper look. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Muslim Journal, an international newspaper based in Homewood, Ill. Abdul-Karim has a B.S. in Human Service Relations from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. He is married to In’Naam Abdul-Karim.
