Sleep Apnea and Snoring Revisited

Dr. PreziosoWe wrote about sleep apnea/snoring in the last edition; however, we feel it is so important to get the message out that we wrote about it again. There are many reasons, besides snoring, to take care of your sleep apnea.

In a report submitted by Dr. Roberto Muñoz, a physician from Navarra, Spain, people suffering from sleep apnea are 2.5 times more at risk of suffering an ischemic stroke. An ischemic stroke is the resultant of a blocked artery that supplies blood and oxygen to the brain. If you think you may be suffering from sleep apnea, see your dentist immediately. We can collaborate with your physician to get you screened for this condition that goes, unfortunately, unnoticed until it is too late. Remember, there are other alternatives to the C-Pap machine, like the TAP appliance, which can be fabricated by a dentist.
