Assault With a Knife - Arrest of Ian Doernberger

On September 3rd at approximately 11:15p.m. Hamden Police responded to a West Side Drive residence on the report of an assault.

Investigation revealed that a large-scale party was occurring. As the party concluded, 2 individuals, who attended the party, became involved in a verbal altercation. As they were walking in a residential neighborhood, one of the individuals, who was later identified as Ian Doernberger, alleged stabbed his 31 year-old acquaintance in the head, with a knife. Hamden Fire Rescue treated the victim, a North Haven resident, at the scene.

Officers conducted a search for Doernberger, which met with negative results. Officer Michael Nawrocki subsequently applied for a warrant for his arrest.

On October 4th Hamden Police responded to the Ansonia Police Department, who had detained Doernberger, on the strength of the arrest warrant. He was then transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.

Hamden Police arrested:

Ian Doernberger, 36, of 8 Pine Ridge Road in Woodbridge. He was charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree and Disorderly Conduct. Doernberger, who was released on a Written Promise to Appear, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on October 18th.
