United States Army Field Band to Perform at Hamden’s Fireworks

The internationally famous U.S. Army Field Band of Washington, D.C., the premiere touring musical representative of the U.S. Army, will present a 90-minute concert prior to Hamden’s fireworks display on Friday, July 1, at 7:15pm. The band, composed of 65 musicians, will be accompanied by the 29-member U.S. Army Soldiers’ Chorus.

The Army Field Band, under the operational control of the Army’s Chief of Public Affairs at the Pentagon, features musicians selected through a highly competitive audition process. Many have studied at the country’s leading conservatories and schools of music, have played with major symphonies, and taught at colleges and universities before entering the service.

The fireworks, sponsored by Hamden’s Volunteer Firefighters, and the concert, sponsored by the Hamden Arts Commission, will be held at Town Center Park, 2761 Dixwell Avenue. The fireworks will begin at 9:20pm. Should inclement weather cause postponement of the fireworks to July 2, the concert will move indoors to Hamden High School, 2040 Dixwell Avenue.
