August 18-21 found The Whitney Players Theatre Company entertaining audiences with their most recent production, “Annie.” The production, held at Hamden High School, was magnificently performed. From the elaborate set to the stunning performance by Maire Whelan as Annie, Rick Hribko as Oliver Warbucks, Kelly Reilly as Grace Farrell, Susan Kulp as Miss Hannigan, and the rest of the cast, it was a very enjoyable night that drew the crowd into the entertainment. The Hamden Journal popped in on the final performance and there was a full house, and the night ended with a standing ovation. On the way out of the door, one attendee said, “This is my third time seeing it and I enjoyed every minute of it.”
“Annie” was directed by Cindy Simell-Devoe; choreographed by Joan Christensen; with musical direction by Judy Webber. For more information on what The Whitney Players has to offer, please visit www.thewhitneyplayers.org.
